can the body learn to after itself?
self healing

It is over 30 years since Karl Simonton and his partner in Texas as well as the late Dr Ainslie Meares (a psychiatrist in Melbourne who retired from orthodox to help people relax and treat them differently) gained world attention using mind-body dynamics in the field of psycho-neuro-immunology - in other words a natural approach towards healing oneself.

Since then a lot has been written, researched and studied but the practice is yet to be universally accepted. Their attention was mainly directed towards the body overcoming cancer and in the present day Dr Ian Gawler and associates conduct a retreat in the Yarra Valley near Warburton in Australia attended by many people who want lifestyle help and healing in various ways. Their approach is basically lifestyle, learning to enjoy every day with positive attitude, and natural whole foods to give the body its best chance for recovery. In other words, quality of life and positive attitude.

In my study of Hypnosis, an important part was this very subject – to assist the client in a “whole person” way and allow the body its own healing process to occur, regardless of presenting problem.

I am always amazed when I ask clients who have been to others if there has been any suggestion or offer of body/mind relaxation techniques with their therapeutic journeys – generally the answer is no. I then say, that it is the very thing the body has been asking to happen for a long time. A further surprise is that almost invariably they will go into a hypnotic state very easily and effortlessly; regardless of how tense and anxious they may have been on presenting to me. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. I always say. “Let emotions relax” which is more important than just body and mind relaxing.

That is a good starting point – the proof of the pie is in the “eating” that means the way we go from there towards helping the person and how he or she responds .

Can we make a friend of our fear? Certainly we all have these natural feelings – real or imagined. Refer my web pages on FEAR.

What can we learn from our fear?

Can we let it become our teacher?

Does my thinking seem too way out for you? Am I ahead of my time?

We spend time talking about real and unreal (exaggerated) fear.

By getting in touch with the fear then using relaxing techniques associated with this inner disturbance, a degree of relief and inner healing is usually obtained.

More needs to be done by getting to the source – the original sensitizing event and learning from that – it then means educating the conscious mind in the present day because the original fear is not happening now – it is just still feeling the effects. This style of approach is mostly overlooked, sometimes ridiculed by orthodox therapists. Having said this, at long last there is evidence of acceptance that we all have a place and no one “knows it all!” Fortunately nowadays many doctors and psychologists refer people to me that didn’t happen five or more years ago.

In the hypnotic state methods are used to assist the client to a new belief to hold about their self and by imagery the imagination is stronger than will power. Is that hard to understand for you?

We can work on it in a realistic way – there are no promises, just the amount of mind dynamics, confidence that the client will allow to happen – in other words, giving self permission to relax and be patient to experience this way that may be new to you. It can take a time before the new belief for you to hold about yourself can manifest.

However hard it may be to accept this philosophy – a way of doctoring – It wasn’t in our upbringing or life teaching as we live in the western society where the belief is for a “pill for every ill” - after all anxiety is really concern, worrying about the future.

I am always surprised at the lengths lots of people go in the natural field to, and the fortune spent on searching, self analysis along with the multitude of nutritional supplements consumed without any real tests to show if the body is actually missing them. My work really means to go with the flow, and allow the body to do its own inner work by mind power (inside–out rather than outside-in.) By releasing worry about your health status it has a greater chance of repair or rejuvenation. Anxiety is really a concern about the future – the unknown or abstract or even the unreal – just plain fruitless worry that doesn’t get us anywhere except to drain our health. People mostly think and blame the past and sure, there are past regrets but we do not give them the energy (power) or blame because we cannot change what has happened.

So much emphasis placed on having the often unattainable scientific proof by the orthodox profession but recent announcements are encouraging that there is now a proven link between stress and bodily health, cancer, heart and depression. Such things I have said and believed for a long time - heartening that once anecdotal, now proven with evidence from research.

They have never been able to accept documented case studies and observations over what must have been half a century – certainly I first heard of this statement a long time ago -

FOR EVERY PHYSICAL COMPLAINT THERE IS AN EMOTIONAL COMPONENT.

Is it not true that the body has its own defense system and also the liver is really the purifier, being the factory within? Sure if liver function is faulty then there is cause for supplementation and detoxifying, or medical intervention.
